"All God's Children Got Shoes"
Social Worker's Self-disclosure Sketches an Artist's Way

Richmond, VA

Richmond writer, Jeannette Drake, has spent more than thirty years engaged with persons from diverse backgrounds as caseworker, counselor, psychotherapist, teacher, tutor or writer. Her new book, Journey Within: A Healing Playbook, uniquely combines her original art and spiritual autobiography to take the reader on a leisurely journey of imagination and self-exploration.

Published by
Northlight Publishing
Richmond, Virginia
May, 2005

Thirteen color abstracts, along with optional play instructions designed to enhance creativity, compose Section One of this book.  Readers not inclined to linger or self-indulge and who wish to move quickly to Drake's autobiographical explanations for her drawings will find Section Two introspective and reflective of a woman grown wise through life's early vicissitudes.

This poetic and passionate book reveals, teaches and raises questions about one's relationship with the Divine.Journey Within will fascinate seekers of Spirit and may challenge a few Christians to reexamine ways in which they walk the Christian walk.

Drake, a licensed clinical social worker, specializes in dream and expressive work for adults in group settings. She has received two awards from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and published poetry, fiction and non-fiction in various journals, magazines and newspapers since 1968.
